Spring Clean Your Branding

Spring is here and it’s time to clean out the cobwebs, and that applies to your business too.

Could your brand use a little spring cleaning?

It’s a great time to freshen up your brand and ensure everything is running smoothly, that way when summer rolls around, you can spend more time enjoying the sunshine and less time worrying about your business. Here are 7 steps to get you started:

  1. Review your overall branding. Take a peek at your marketing materials to ensure that your logo, brand colours, and brand messaging all accurately represent your company’s image and goals and that no outdated versions are in use. If your brand needs an update, consider whether you should rebrand your business.

  2. Go through your website content. Is everything accurate and up to date? Are all your current services and offerings listed? Is your content optimized for readability and search engine optimization? This is a great time to do an overhaul if needed. Tip: make it easy for your customers and potential customers to find what they need. Simple, well laid out information is best!

  3. Test your website page speed. Is your site as fast as it should be? Even a short delay in loading time can cause visitors to abandon your site and prompt Google to downgrade your search rank. Use a free page speed tool to see if your site is performing as well as it should.

  4. Ensure you’re targeting the right keywords. When you developed your website, you likely had a list of keywords to target. But when was the last time you looked at that list? Take some time to review and discover new keywords you should be targeting.

  5. Purge your email lists. Improve the effectiveness of your email marketing by going through your email subscriber list to ensure all contacts are accurate, up to date and engaged.

  6. Audit your social media profiles. Have a look at your profile picture, banner, about page and contact info. Is everything up to date? Is your banner well branded and representative of what you do? Next look at your content. Is your business putting its marketing efforts into the right social media platforms? Are you using social media content that will boost engagement? This is your time to have a look at what is getting you the best results and plan to duplicate that moving forward. Tip: You don’t need to reinvent the wheel continuously; you can recycle content that performs well.

  7. Invest in some updated brand pictures. When is the last time you had professional photos taken for your business? If that question has you scratching your head, it’s probably time. We’ve all heard the phrase, “An image is worth a thousand words.” In the super fast paced world that we live in today, that phrase couldn’t be truer. Photography is more important than ever before in helping brands to tell their story and connect with their customers.

If this list looks daunting, don’t worry, you don’t need to tackle it all at once. Do one thing a day and you’ll be done in a week! Download my free checklist to help you stay on track.
